Acharya Prashant explains that in Chapter 16 of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna distinguishes between the divine man and the demonic man, known as the Asur. The defining characteristic of an Asur is the rejection and derision of spiritual scriptures. Such individuals prioritize their own desires, impulses, and feelings as the supreme authority, mistakenly equating the pursuit of personal happiness with freedom. Shri Krishna warns that this approach is inherently demonic and leads to a cycle of perpetual suffering. He advises that the scriptures, particularly the Upanishads and Vedanta, should be the ultimate authority for determining right action, as they are the result of centuries of deep internal research and commitment to truth by thousands of sages.
