Description

Acharya Prashant explains that Bulleh Shah has not 'attained' something in the worldly sense of acquisition; rather, he has attained freedom from the race of attaining. This state is one of total detachment and carelessness toward gain and loss. He clarifies that freedom is not an object to be found, but a state of being free from objects. One cannot reach this state through mere thinking or intellectual questioning, as thinking only leads one further away. Bulleh Shah's songs are spontaneous expressions of a life lived in freedom, not calculated poetic compositions. They are like a reflection of his life in a mirror, often raw and unpolished because he does not claim ownership or authorship over them. Acharya Prashant further describes this state as total freedom from fear, hesitation, and anxiety, which is the essence of spirituality and devotion. When asked what has been attained, a person in this state cannot provide a specific answer because the state of being is beyond possession. Regarding the mention of books and veils, he explains that the purpose of books is to be read until they are forgotten, and the process of removing veils is an endless pursuit of knowledge. Truth is realized only when one stops the endless search for what lies behind the veil and realizes the futility of the pursuit itself. Ultimately, the final statement of all scriptures and the realization of Bulleh Shah is 'nothingness'—a state where even the concept of birth and death is transcended.
