Description

Acharya Prashant explains that fate, or Prarabdha, is not a pre-written destiny controlled by a deity, but rather the inherent unpredictability and complexity of the world. He describes it as an infinite system where every action, no matter how small, influences everything else in ways that are impossible to calculate or foresee. This randomness and the inability to predict the future or fully trace the past is what humans label as fate. He uses the example of the butterfly effect and the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic to illustrate how minor, random events can lead to massive global consequences. He further clarifies that while fate is powerful and dictates external circumstances like wealth, health, and worldly success or failure, its influence is limited to the surface level of existence. Spirituality, according to him, is the ability to remain internally untouched by these external shifts. A spiritual person acknowledges the impact of fate on the body and mind but remains centered in the Truth. This internal state of detachment, or Vairagya, allows one to experience both good and bad fortune without being emotionally enslaved by them. Ultimately, he emphasizes that the Self, or Atma, is that which is not dependent on fate. While the external world may change due to various forces, the inner core of a spiritual individual remains stable. True strength and spiritual progress are found when a person is neither elated by what fate provides nor devastated by what it takes away. By living in Truth rather than relying on fate, one achieves a state of being that is beyond the reach of worldly fluctuations.
