Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the primary purpose of any relationship is to assist in liberation. He clarifies that things or relationships are useful either when they are maintained or when they are discarded. Physical or birth-based relationships assist liberation by being 'no more' if they do not serve the ultimate target. He emphasizes that bad relationships arise from a forgetfulness of the real goal. When one remembers the truth, right relationships receive nourishment while wrong ones naturally wither away. One does not need to actively hack down wrong relationships; instead, one must reaffirm commitment to the right path, and the wrong people will drop away on their own. He advises against wearing masks to maintain relationships, describing such behavior as a lack of self-respect and dignity. Most existing relationships are merely interactions between masks where individuals never truly see each other. He warns that compromising one's authenticity or skipping spiritual practice to please others is a mistake. The right relationship is a blessing that comes when one remains committed to the truth. Ultimately, anyone who drags a person away from the right thing is not the right person for them, and one should never exchange their truth for the sake of maintaining a connection.
