Description

Acharya Prashant explains that for a person in a dream state, the dream is their only reality. One cannot simply leap out of the dream or dismiss it as unreal while still being identified with it. To find a way out, the dreamer must have a genuine desire to break away and must use the small hints and clues available within the dream itself. Consciousness is never perfectly conditioned or totally impure; even in the deepest illusions, truth shines through small fissures. Calling the world an illusion while still living in it is hypocrisy. If one is a character in their own dream, they must live it fully and investigate their suffering and relationships to find the way through, as the ending of the dream is contained within the dream itself. He emphasizes that the way out of any state is through total experience and understanding. One cannot dissolve the dream by sitting in a corner and labeling it as a myth; knowing the dream is its dissolution. The questioner is identified with the dream state, as evidenced by the act of asking questions. Acharya Prashant advises using the energy of the inquiry to fall silent and passively watch. He notes that just as perfect sense is unavailable to man, perfect nonsense is also impossible. There are always helps available for liberation in one's immediate surroundings. If one denies the reality of their current situation, they also deny the help contained within it. Redemption is found exactly where one is, as no mental state is entirely bereft of divine light.
