Acharya Prashant explains that the human mind, which Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa compared to iron, has a natural attraction to the Truth or the Divine, which acts like a magnet. However, this attraction is obstructed when the mind is covered by the 'mud' of worldly desires and ego. Prayer is the method to wash away this mud, but true prayer is not a list of demands or desires. Most people use prayer as a document of their cravings, which is an expression of deep ego and results in further suffering. True prayer means letting go of one's own preferences and definitions of right and wrong, allowing the Divine to decide what is beneficial.
