Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the tendency to blame external factors for one's problems. He clarifies that the real fault is not one's adverse situation (sthiti) or condition (dasha). He agrees that it is not wrong to hold the world responsible for one's situation, as external circumstances are indeed under the influence of the world. A person does not have a hundred percent choice in their situation or condition, as these are largely determined by factors like birth, physical attributes, financial status, and even innate intelligence (IQ). The speaker emphasizes that while one's situation is determined by external factors, one has a complete choice over their direction (disha) and resolve (sankalp). The real problem arises when one's direction is also dictated by the world. He asserts that you are responsible for your direction. Where you are may be influenced by the world, but you must decide where you are going. If your direction is also determined by the world, then there is a significant problem. The true measure of a person, according to the speaker, is not their current state but the choices they make and the direction in which they are moving. The joy and glory are found in the journey of moving in the right direction, not in reaching any particular worldly destination, which he describes as an endless game. He advises evaluating oneself and others based on their resolve and the struggles they undertake, not on what they have naturally received. The honor lies in the struggle and the resolve, not in the outcome determined by circumstances. The focus should be on consciousness, not just on natural gifts.
