Acharya Prashant explains that in the context of self-inquiry, the speaker is always the Soul and the listener is always the Mind. He notes a dimensional difference between the two: the Soul speaks continuously, while the Mind rarely listens. Since the Mind is shaped by circumstances and history, it must be provided with the right environment to become a capable listener. This is why physical proximity to a spiritual teacher is essential, as the essence of spiritual gatherings and sacred texts is the act of coming close. He emphasizes that the Mind's sole responsibility is to say "Yes" and surrender. While the Soul offers invitations, it never imposes realization. The Supreme Being waits for this consent, disregarding one's knowledge or skills. Surrender is not a theoretical idea but a daily practice of living without fear. A Mind that seeks to pre-plan everything or relies entirely on its own intellect cannot surrender. True spirituality encompasses all of life, and observing the Mind's daily patterns allows one to become free from its influence.
