Description

Acharya Prashant clarifies the relationship between the intellect and the mind, explaining that they are essentially the same. He addresses the apparent contradiction between using the intellect to distinguish the superior from the inferior and doubting the intellect. He explains that everyone inherently knows what is inferior or wrong, but they often lack the courage to act against their own habits and attachments. Shri Krishna did not fight the war for the Pandavas but supported their weaker side to ensure victory; similarly, a Guru acts as a voice for one's own suppressed goodness and truth. The Guru supports the superior aspect of an individual, helping them become what they have always desired to be. Acharya Prashant advises that one should doubt the thoughts and tendencies that arise in the absence of the Guru, scriptures, or meditation. These thoughts are often inferior and deceptive, hiding like a snake in a hole when the truth is present and emerging only when it is away. Conversely, the version of oneself that emerges in the presence of the Guru or truth is the superior side and should be trusted. He emphasizes that the Guru, whether in the form of a person, scripture, or the ultimate Divine, serves to empower the individual's own suppressed righteousness. Therefore, doubt should be reserved for the cunning and hypocritical thoughts that only surface when one is distant from the truth.
