Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the various ages like Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga are states of the mind. He asserts that time itself is the mind, and the mind is time. To illustrate this, he quotes Kabir Saheb: "Everyone talks about time, but no one recognizes time. All the imaginations of the mind are called time." He further supports this by citing the Upanishads, which state, "I am not of time, I am time itself." Therefore, these ages are not external events but occur within the mind. He clarifies that these are not events that will happen outside of you, according to a calendar. Vedanta teaches that nothing is happening outside; the entire flow of time is within you. A clean mind is Satya Yuga, and a defiled mind is Kali Yuga. He dismisses the debates about how many years are left for Kali Yuga to end as discussions for fools and mega-fools. The entire cycle of time, the 'Kaal Chakra', operates within the human mind, not externally. We think of these ages like the months of the year that cycle, but it is not so. Quoting Kabir again, he says, "The mind has many colors, it changes moment by moment." All these changes are happening within the mind. The state of mind that is above all colors is called the state of truth (Sat), and when you are in that state, it is Satya Yuga for you. In Satya Yuga, you are at the center of time yet remain a mere witness to it. The joy of Satya Yuga is the joy of being established in the Self or witness-consciousness. Conversely, the suffering and sin of Kali Yuga are the pain of attachment and the desire for indulgence. Kali Yuga means getting entangled and clinging to whatever is seen. In contrast, Satya Yuga means being beyond, maintaining a beautiful, pure, and loving distance. Dvapara and Treta Yugas are the two intermediate states between these two extremes of attachment and detachment. He concludes by stating that Satya Yuga can arrive for you in this very moment if you purify your mind, and Kali Yuga arrives the moment your mind becomes defiled.
