Description

Acharya Prashant explains that a simple rejection becomes painful because we do not keep it simple; instead, we attach it to our self-worth and identity. When a person lacks clarity on who they are, they depend on others' approval to feel they exist. This dependency makes rejection feel like a threat to one's very being, as if one might disappear without external validation. He emphasizes that having high or low self-esteem is irrelevant because both are finite measurements and limits. In the face of the infinite, all finite numbers and measurements are equally insignificant. He asserts that anyone who is not deeply spiritual is destined to be a social slave, constantly inflated or deflated by the opinions of others. True freedom and security come only from being connected to the infinite, which he describes as the 'ocean.' Suffering is a sign that one is disconnected from this spiritual core. Acharya Prashant suggests that we suffer because we relate ourselves to limited, finite entities like family members or worldly roles. He argues that one must identify as a 'child of existence' or the 'beloved of the Supreme' to find true peace. Finally, he explains that this spiritual connection requires total devotion and the removal of miscellaneous worldly identities that occupy the 'throne' of the heart. By making the infinite the center of one's life, one becomes immune to being diminished by others. He concludes that unless there is a spiritual core to one's living, suffering is inevitable because worldly supports are inherently limited and insecure.
