Description

Acharya Prashant emphasizes that the Bhagavad Gita is a philosophical document of the highest order rather than a mere story. He explains that the ego exists because of one's identification with being born. As long as an individual considers themselves a physical entity localized in time and space, the ego will persist. This localization is the root of suffering because it limits a person's presence and control, preventing them from being everywhere at once or correcting the past. All human desires are fundamentally related to these limitations of time and space. He further describes the human condition as one of inevitable limitation. While saints suggest that human birth itself is not necessarily a great event, they advise making the best use of it now that it has occurred. The goal of human life should be to strive for liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Acharya Prashant concludes that since birth brings about the very bondages from which one seeks freedom, one must live cautiously and directed toward liberation rather than strengthening those bondages.
