Acharya Prashant explains that you can only say something exists if it ends somewhere. For example, if this wall did not end somewhere, it could not be a wall. This may sound strange, but if a wall did not end, you would not be able to experience it. To experience anything, it is necessary for it to have an end. Something that has no end cannot be experienced. When it is said that the Supreme or the Truth cannot be grasped from above, below, left, right, or from the middle, it should be understood that it is not like a wall. When we say something 'is' or 'exists,' we are actually talking about things whose existence is for the senses. The wall exists because it comes within the experience of the senses. In the sense that a wall exists, Truth does not exist. Truth is not an object; only objects have an objective existence. Truth has no objective existence. However, the common notion is that Truth or liberation must be 'something.' This is where the problem lies. The wise have repeatedly said that even though we name them—Truth, liberation, love, joy, simplicity—they are not things. But our imagination is unruly; it does not accept this. We talk about them as if they are objects, saying we want to 'reach' the Truth, as if it were a destination. Truth 'is not' because only that which ends can 'be.' The wall can 'be' because it has an end. Truth has no end, so it 'is not.' Therefore, you cannot reach it like a destination. People ask for the path or method to liberation. There can be a method to build or demolish a wall because a wall is an object. Methods can only be applied to objects. Since liberation is not an object, there can be no method for it. Yet, methods for meditation, liberation, truth, and love are sold in the market. A method is always related to an object, and an object is always limited. To apply a method to something means you have placed it beneath your ego. If you can apply a method to a wall, you are greater than the wall. If you apply a method to Truth, you are greater than Truth. This is an insult, like calling a Bharat Ratna awardee a Padma Shri recipient. The glory of Truth is so high that you cannot find the right words for it. Any word you use is inadequate.
