Description

Acharya Prashant explains that all names, titles, and forms are limited. Anything that is limited is a deception in one respect: it cannot fulfill your deepest desire. It stands before you as if it is very important, but its importance is worthless. All things with name, form, color, and shape are found in the world. And it is the things of the world that loudly proclaim their value, urging you to come towards them, obtain them, embrace them, chase them, and pay their price, promising to give you extreme happiness or relieve you from your suffering. This is why they are all a deception. It is said that Brahman is present when you are free from the tendency to be deceived by the things of the world, which are characterized by name and form. The reference to name, form, and all qualities is towards all the limited objects, persons, things, and thoughts of the world. One should not start imagining Brahman as some entity that has no name, form, or qualities. People have often done this, saying that It exists but has no face. The speaker clarifies that if you say It exists but has no name, you have given it a name. If you say It has no face, you have given it a face. If you say It is without attributes (nirgun), you have given it an attribute. Do not say anything about It. Instead, talk about the things that have a name, form, and attributes, which are making you dance and are the cause of your suffering. You don't want to talk about them. Everything that is troubling you and making your life a mess has a name, form, color, and shape. Talk about that, not about Brahman. These things are not real because they create a mess, and it is not your nature to live in a mess. You are stuck in this mess to get free from it. Ultimately, whatever trouble you are in, you are in it because you felt it would free you from other troubles. One problem is not the cure for another. Ignorance is not the cure for another ignorance. One disease is not the cure for another disease; rather, it can lead to five more. Brahman is not a new disease; it is the final solution. That solution is such that it liberates you from all those things that are problems in the guise of solutions. All our problems are in the form of solutions. We let them into our lives because we think we will get something from them, but all we get is trouble. The one who understands this becomes one with Brahman. Liberation is nothing; disinterest in bondages is liberation. The knowledge of bondages is liberation. The entire focus should be on bondages. The one who talks about liberation will remain in bondage, and the one who talks about bondages will be liberated. Most of spirituality is about liberation, but we say that one who talks of liberation will remain in bondage because he is dishonest. The punishment is that he will always remain a captive.
