In response to a question about faith (aastha), grace (anukampa), and knowledge (gyan), Acharya Prashant begins by establishing a fundamental principle. He explains that everything a person says, thinks, experiences, knows, sees, or hears, whether in the form of thought or emotion, is the mind. The mind is its content, and its content is the mind. Therefore, what is called faith is also a content of the mind, and thus, it is the mind itself. Acharya Prashant further elaborates that the content of the mind is what is called knowledge (gyan). In this sense, every person in the world is a knower (gyani) in their own view, as no one can function without some form of knowledge. Even a mad person is certain they know something. The mind is its content, and its content is knowledge; therefore, the mind is knowledge. However, knowledge can be of different qualities. The purpose of the knower, or the mind, is to find relief from its troubles and end its suffering. The deepest desire is for freedom from sorrow, which is called bliss. Thus, good knowledge is that which grants this freedom, while bad knowledge keeps one in illusion and bondage. The touchstone for any new knowledge or belief is whether it makes one aware of their own condition and provides relief. The speaker asserts that the cause of suffering is not ignorance (the absence of information) but the false knowledge and beliefs one holds as true. The mind's fundamental quest is to know, "Who am I?" because suffering stems from a flaw in our very being. Only the knowledge that reveals this truth is worthwhile; all other knowledge is the same old poison in a new package. Previously, it came as superstition; now it comes in modern language, but it remains superstition. Acharya Prashant concludes by stating that words are both the problem and the solution. We have held onto erroneous words, and we need the right words to cut through them. He defines Sadhana (spiritual practice) not as a ritual but as the continuous act of rubbing one's life against these right words. Once the right thing is known, it must be continuously implemented. This constant, 24-hour application is the true meaning of Sadhana.
