Acharya Prashant explains that love is not a duty; the concept of duty only arises when love is absent in a relationship. He emphasizes that if actions, such as a son serving his mother, are done out of duty rather than love, they become toxic. Love is not a burden or a bond; it is a state of being where one acts out of appropriateness rather than obligation. He challenges the conventional idea that children must become the 'support' for their parents in old age, questioning the nature of this support and the motives behind it. He further elaborates that true love is like a lit candle that ignites another; if a parent truly loves a child, they awaken love within that child. If a child runs away from their parents at the first opportunity, it indicates that they never received true love but were instead burdened by expectations, taunts, and a sense of suffocation. Acharya Prashant points out that many parents act out of a sense of 'mine-ness' or ownership rather than genuine love, treating children as possessions. This selfishness is why children seek to escape, and such an outcome is a natural consequence for those who trade in expectations instead of love. Finally, he asserts that a person who has truly experienced love feels complete within themselves and does not seek support or help from others. Using the example of Shri Krishna and the legendary generosity of Karna, he illustrates that a giver's nature remains unchanged even in the face of death. One who is fulfilled does not ask for support because they are not a 'beggar' seeking to fill a void. He concludes that one must first find their own inner worth and abundance before they can truly share or distribute it to others, rather than forming relationships based on mutual neediness.
