Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the human organism, comprising both body and mind, should not be given excessive protection. He asserts that over-protecting oneself leads to weakness, and one must learn to live with physical discomforts like heat, cold, and sweat. He warns against the tendency to feel like a victim or to believe that something bad has happened, as such thoughts provide nourishment to the ego. He emphasizes that strength is essential for spiritual growth and that one should never identify as weak or helpless. Citing the Upanishads, he states that the Self, or Atman, is not attained by the weak. He explains that all internal illnesses and the ego itself originate from the feeling of being weak, which leads to an unhealthy dependence on others. While life brings inevitable challenges and calamities to everyone, including great beings, one must realize that the power to face a calamity is always granted before the calamity itself arrives. He suggests that if a difficulty has appeared, the strength to overcome it must already be present within. He further discusses the importance of discipline and austerity, or Tapasya, noting that challenges are necessary to awaken the dormant infinite strength of the Atman. He explains that faith, or Shraddha, provides strength to the intellect, allowing one to find ways to navigate through adversity. Without faith, the intellect becomes corrupted and leads to destruction. Every test and trial serves to refine and transform an individual, leading to a state of blooming and fulfillment. He encourages enduring challenges to discover the hidden power within.
