Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the expectation for a spiritual person to be perfect arises from a fabricated ideal of perfection. Some people have spread the idea that a spiritual person becomes perfect, and this state is called enlightenment. Once someone is considered enlightened, they are seen as complete, flawless, and incapable of making mistakes. This belief has several consequences. Firstly, it leads spiritual people to become hypocrites because they are forced to live up to an untrue ideal. They feel compelled to show the world that they have no flaws or shortcomings. Secondly, it results in people lying about gurus, avatars, and prophets, presenting them as completely perfect beings. The biographies of these liberated individuals are often incomplete, showing only the aspects that align with these ideals while hiding their human side, including their flaws and defects, which would show they were just like ordinary people. If these hidden truths are revealed, followers of that religion or sect become angry. This entire issue stems from the myth of enlightenment, which suggests that upon achieving it, a person becomes 100% perfect. This myth provides a convenient excuse for ordinary people to not work on themselves. They create a division, believing that only the enlightened ones are free from flaws, while they, being unenlightened, have the right to remain as they are. They see the enlightened as special and unique, blessed by a deity or born at an auspicious time, and thus feel no pressure to improve themselves. This is a form of casteism, creating a divide between those who can be enlightened and those who cannot. The speaker clarifies that a spiritual person is one who is more familiar with the world than a worldly person. A worldly person lives in the world but does not know it, whereas a spiritual person knows the world well and is therefore able to rise above it. The speaker advises to differentiate between the essential and the non-essential. One should not pay attention to the useless talk and taunts of others. If you have found a correct path, you must continue on it. The goal is not to become strong but to awaken love. When there is love, there is no space left for the taunts and jibes of ignorant people. A spiritual person is not someone who is unaware of the world; they are more familiar with it than even a worldly person. They know the world so well that they can rise above it.
