Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the sense of 'I' or the self is not a mysterious or grand entity, but is simply defined by whatever an individual identifies with at any given moment. He clarifies that feelings are not evidence of truth; just because one feels there is something beyond the body does not make it a factual reality. If one identifies with their elbow, then for that person, the 'I' is the elbow. He points out that the 'I' is never found in a state of independence; it always exists in association with something else, such as clothes, emotions, social roles, or physical attributes. Therefore, the self has no separate existence from these associations. He further discusses that the nature of spirituality depends entirely on the seeker's internal state. For those who lack a genuine yearning for liberation or an understanding of their own ignorance, spirituality becomes nothing more than a toy or a form of entertainment. In such cases, people focus on superficial rituals like wearing specific gemstones, drinking 'charged' water, or seeking physical shortcuts to salvation. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that true spirituality is only for those who feel a deep restlessness for freedom, while for others, it remains a mere distraction or a hobby.
