Acharya Prashant explains the concept of remembrance as taught by Kabir Saheb, detailing four distinct stages of mental progression. Most of humanity exists at the zeroth stage, where they fail to remember their past experiences and repeatedly fall into the same painful patterns. The first stage of remembrance involves active negation, where one becomes mindful of past hurts and deceptions, choosing to evict harmful memories and no longer trust what has proven to be untrustworthy. This is a stage of being cautious of the natural patterns of the mind and the past. The second stage is one of affirmation, where the devotee willfully remembers a sublime figure or mantra, such as Shri Krishna, to bring peace. This single, refined focus acts as a cleanser, driving out miscellaneous preoccupations and nonsense from the mind. However, Acharya Prashant warns that one must not become attached to the form or mantra itself, as this can lead to a regression back to the zeroth stage. The final stage is the culmination where the rememberer is absorbed by the remembered, leading to a state of unity where no separate entity remains to remember or be remembered.
