Description

Acharya Prashant explains that effort is only meaningful when there is something left to achieve; once the goal is reached, continuing to struggle is foolish and results in self-injury and wasted energy. Society often pressures individuals to be productive and hardworking, viewing a simple or effortless life as a failure. When someone lives a light, effortless life without seeking material gains, it deeply unsettles others because it challenges their belief that living by truth and simplicity is impossible. People justify their own fear-driven and complicated lives by claiming that a truthful existence is impractical or unattainable. Seeing someone actually living in simplicity acts as a direct proof that the path of truth exists, which many find insulting to their own way of life. To avoid the shame of having wasted their own potential, people either try to prove the truthful person wrong or elevate them to the status of a special, divine being. By labeling figures like Shri Krishna, Shri Ram, or Buddha as 'avatars' or supernatural beings, ordinary people create a distance that protects them from comparison. Alternatively, they may falsely claim to be modern versions of such figures, justifying their lack of depth as a product of the current age. Ultimately, the presence of a truly awakened person serves as a mirror that reveals the wasted opportunities of those living in falsehood.
