Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the true purpose of life is not to find a new meaning, but to get rid of the false purposes we are born with. He argues that from birth, humans are driven by biological purposes related to physical needs, territory, and survival, which are no different from those of animals. These innate drives for comfort, food, and dominance remain unchanged as we grow up; they are merely amplified by society and education. He suggests that being born does not automatically make one human; rather, one becomes human by discarding the biological conditioning embedded in our hardware. He describes the human condition as being born into a prison of conditioning. The only rightful purpose of life is to break out of this prison. He warns that society and education often keep individuals engaged within the prison by offering attractive distractions and 'handcuffs' disguised as jewelry or social commitments. These external and internal attachments are often mistaken for choices, but they are actually the wishes of others imposed upon the individual. He emphasizes that true freedom comes from undoing this conditioning and learning to love, rather than seeking success through competition and domination. Addressing the pursuit of happiness, Acharya Prashant cautions that sensory gratification and pleasure are traps used to enslave people, much like bait is used to trap animals. He asserts that the inability to resist instant gratification is an animalistic trait that leads to suffering and frustration. He advises being extremely cautious when promised happiness, as it is often the ultimate trap that leads to a life of imprisonment. The wise person, he concludes, views the world as a minefield or a mousetrap where tempting things are designed to capture and confine the consciousness.
