Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the notion of predestination by discussing the prophecy surrounding the birth of Shri Buddha. He argues that while many astrologers might have made various predictions, only the one that happened to come true is remembered. He emphasizes that human beings are not puppets controlled by a higher power; rather, they have been granted freedom. True understanding or enlightenment is the ultimate liberation. When an individual acts out of conditioning, habits, or tendencies, they behave like a puppet, but when they act with awareness and freedom, their actions are unique and unpredictable. He explains that the creator is fundamentally free, and therefore, the creation must also be free. Astrology and horoscopes are applicable only to those who live mechanically, like machines. Just as the future position of a car can be calculated based on its speed, the future of a person living a patterned, habitual life can be predicted. However, for someone living in the Soul and in consciousness, no astrology can predict their path because the Soul is eternally new and fresh. Such a person becomes unpredictable and beyond the scope of estimation or calculation. Acharya Prashant notes that most people choose to live within the confines of traditions and social patterns, which makes their lives easily predictable without needing complex astrology. He clarifies a misconception about the Bhagavad Gita, stating that Shri Krishna does not claim that everything is predestined. He encourages seeking truth directly from the scriptures rather than relying on hearsay. Finally, he uses the analogy of physical injury versus mental grief, noting that while physical processes like bleeding continue during sleep, mental reactions like weeping stop, suggesting that much of human suffering is a product of the mind rather than reality.
