Description

Acharya Prashant explains that humans fundamentally seek what is constant and unconditional. While no one desires suffering, unrest, or disturbance, everyone continuously seeks peace, rest, and bliss. This constant requirement of the mind, which remains unchanged regardless of circumstances, is defined as the Atma. The mind's inherent attraction and pull toward this everlasting peace is what constitutes true love. Unlike worldly desires for objects, respect, or physical pleasures—which become burdensome or repulsive if provided incessantly—the desire for the Atma is perpetual and does not diminish. He further clarifies that the Atma is not a physical object to be found but is recognized through the constant need for peace. He uses the analogy of children lost in a forest to explain why individuals follow different spiritual paths; although their starting points vary, their ultimate destination remains the same. Regarding the nature of existence, he notes that the body and the world are perceived only through specific states of consciousness. He likens our current state of being to a dream, suggesting that spiritual awakening is akin to waking up within that dream while the body still exists.
