Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the ego thrives on division. To exist and survive, it needs boundaries, classes, and a sense of high and low. The ego creates these boundaries and scopes in numerous ways, giving them various names, forms, reasons, and ideologies. However, the hidden purpose behind all these names, methods, forms, reasons, and ideologies is to create some kind of division and categorization. It is about making one feel separate from the other. Because if one is not separate from the other, then it is non-duality (Advaita), and the ego's game is over. To keep itself alive, the ego must somehow separate itself from the other. This conspiracy of separation has been happening in human history in countless ways, and Brahmanism is just one of them. There are thousands of other prevalent methods whose sole purpose is to make a person feel that they are different from others in some way. For example, one might say, 'I am from the warrior class of society, so I am different from you,' or 'I am a merchant, I know money and business, so I am different.' Another might say, 'I have the right to exploit,' while someone else might say, 'My identity is that I have been exploited in history.' In reality, there is neither an oppressor nor an oppressed; it is the ego that is dancing and making everyone dance. The ego finds a way to give itself an identity, and you can get rid of Brahmanism, but if the ego is not eliminated, it will find ten other ways to create divisions between people. It will invent new 'isms' because every 'ism' divides. Real equality is not something that can be brought about by a constitution. Writing the word 'equality' on a piece of paper does not bring equality. Even if you provide two people with the same opportunities, they will still have many differences. Their bodies are different, their minds are genetically different, and their talents are different. The only point where two individuals are truly equal is the Self (Atma). Therefore, if India or any nation, community, or society wants equality, it must become spiritual. Without spirituality, there can be no equality; it is just hollow talk. The equality imposed from the outside is just a system, not the real thing. Real equality arises from a person's heart when they realize that all the boundaries they use to define themselves are meaningless. When you become free from these boundaries, equality descends. The only way to bridge the gap of inequality is spirituality.
