Description

Acharya Prashant explains that true knowing is a spontaneous and direct process that requires no external proof, as proof is only necessary where doubt exists. He emphasizes that the only proper use of time is to reach this state of realization. Every moment is an opportunity to move toward this understanding, and any other use of time is considered a waste. He clarifies that the ego is not merely a social construct but is rooted in the physical body and evolution. While society provides the specific subjects for the ego—such as wealth, religion, or gender—the fundamental sense of 'I' is innate. He notes that humans are distinct from other species because of their inherent restlessness; while animals remain content in nature, humans seek something beyond it, though they often mistake social structures like cities for a true escape from nature. Acharya Prashant asserts that spirituality is synonymous with right action. In the modern age, information is easily accessible, making intellectual knowledge less valuable. The true test of spirituality is not what one knows, but how one lives and acts. He explains that the ego, being a 'doer' by nature, must be directed toward right conduct. He concludes that realization and action must go hand in hand. To become deserving of this realization, one must have an intense, burning desire for truth. This 'fire' or deservingness is often caught by being in the proximity of a teacher who already embodies that realization, much like catching a spark from someone already on fire.
