Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the essence of the Bhagavad Gita remains immortal because humans continue to be trapped in their emotions, past, and limited identities, much like Arjun. He addresses a question regarding how a householder can practice the meditation of being the Brahman self while managing family and relationships. He clarifies that realizing one is the Brahman self means recognizing that one is unlimited and not in need of enhancement or diminished by external factors. This realization shifts the focus from personal interests and insecurities to the genuine welfare of others. Ordinarily, people act out of a sense of incompleteness, using relationships to fulfill their own petty desires and insecurities, which leads to conflict and exploitation. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that living as the Brahman self in the middle of the world means retaining inherent fullness despite societal pressures that attempt to make one feel small or neurotic. A person established in this state does not use others as means to an end but instead offers them unconditional freedom and joy. He asserts that true love is only possible when one is concerned with the welfare of the other rather than extracting personal gain. In a family setting, a parent or spouse who abides as the Brahman self becomes a source of liberation rather than a source of control or exploitation. Ultimately, being the Brahman self allows one to live without expectations for oneself, acting solely for the benefit and liberation of others.
