Description

Acharya Prashant critiques the common practice of dividing one's day into two hours of spiritual practice and twenty-two hours of worldly affairs. He argues that such a fragmented routine cannot be called a sequence or a discipline because it lacks continuity. True spiritual practice, or 'Sadhana', must be a twenty-four-hour engagement. He explains that if one claims to love the divine but gives eleven times more time to the world, that claim is a lie. The divine demands the whole of a person, not a broken or partial offering. He warns against 'two-hour meditation' because it provides a false sense of security while allowing the mind to remain asleep for the rest of the day. Just as one does not schedule specific hours to feel thirsty or to let the heart beat, devotion and meditation should be constant and natural states of being.
