Acharya Prashant distinguishes between being immersed in meaningful work and being lost in trivialities. He explains that if a person is fully aware of their purpose and that purpose consumes their time and energy to the point where they lack time for mundane tasks, it is a state of superior well-being. This immersion is a form of spiritual surrender where one gives themselves completely to what is right. While outsiders might view such a life as difficult or exploitative, it is actually a life filled with love and fulfillment. He contrasts this with being lost in activities like mindless scrolling, which is a state of unconsciousness where time passes without purpose. Acharya Prashant further notes that true immersion is rare and requires a significant price, including courage and discipline. Most people who appear lost are simply living aimlessly, like a leaf blown by the wind. He advises that one should use their consciousness to find the right work and then dedicate themselves to it entirely. He explains that there are two kinds of slavery: one to ignorance and one to deep awareness. He encourages choosing the latter, where one follows the command of the right work for twenty-four hours a day, regardless of social perceptions or pity from others.
