Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the witness, the enlightened one, or the conscious one is often misunderstood as a serious or somber figure. In reality, such a person appears intoxicated or unstable to the ordinary world because they do not walk the straight path of worldly ambition. He distinguishes between two types of movement: running and dancing. Running is a mental activity driven by the desire to achieve or reach somewhere, while dancing is a playful act without any craving for gain. The witness is one who dances, and to those who are constantly running, the dancer appears mad or lost. He emphasizes that this state of intoxication is a divine intoxication where the individual is drunk on the grace of the ultimate source. Acharya Prashant argues that a life without this spiritual fervor or intoxication is merely a burden. He warns against the 'well-organized' and 'disciplined' individuals who strictly follow codes of conduct, noting that such 'sober' people are often the ones responsible for wars and destruction. He concludes that while those in a state of spiritual intoxication do not create weapons of mass destruction, the so-called sensible and alert people do, making spiritual intoxication a necessary quality for a truly lived life.
