Acharya Prashant explains that the first ray of light in history and the first ray of light in your life do not come from you. All you can do is not be asleep when the time comes for the ray of light to arrive. You cannot bring light, but you can certainly deprive yourself of the light that has come. This is the weakness of the ego. You cannot make the sun rise, but it is within your power to remain asleep even when the sun has risen. Bringing light is not in your authority, but to remain deprived of the light that has come is within your authority. We are like this. We can do a lot, we are great warriors, but whatever we can do, we can only do it in the opposite direction. That is why spirituality tells you not to think of doing anything new, but first to see what you are doing. If there is no light in your life, it is not because the sun has some grudge against you. If there is no light in your life, it is the result of some of your actions. Do not ask how to bring light into your life. First, tell me what you are doing that even the light that has come is not able to illuminate you. Every verse is addressed to the ego. There is no one else who is troubled, no one else who needs to be awakened. Who else can be spoken to? Each verse is like a principle that cuts the disease of the mind. These words are less related to truth and more to health. The disease has to be cut, the disease of the mind. If you want to call the essence contained in the verses as truth, you are not saying a very precise thing because truth cannot be described in words. But untruth can certainly be cut by words. Words can give direction and inspiration to cut untruth. So, whatever verse you read, whether it is a verse, a saying, a couplet, or a quatrain, look at it this way: which lie is being cut? You don't have to see what truth is being told in it. You have to ask yourself which lie is being cut. If you look at it as if God created the first sage, Kapila Muni, then you are not getting much value from this verse because what is the use of this information to you? What is being negated here? The thing that is being negated is that no one can reach the state of a sage, a saint, enlightenment, or Buddhahood through thought. The ego's claim is that I will become like the sages by sitting and thinking. The sage is saying here, 'No, son, you can't do it.' You do what you can do. Don't even talk about what you can't do. And if the mind asks a lot about who does what you can't do, then say the supreme element does it. So, the supreme element is not something. It is just a word to silence the mind when it asks an illegitimate, illegal question. The mind has always seen that whenever something happens, there is a doer behind it. So it asks, 'Who did it?' It is foolish. So, what rattle is given to it? Different people have given different names. But there is no use in giving names. The utility is in knowing that you did not do it. You just get off your throne. Let go of the ego. It is important to know that you did not do it. Knowing who did it is a useless thing. You did not do it. This is the only thing that is important to know.
