Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the issue of laziness and lack of effort in work, explaining that if a task does not take away one's sleep, it is a mistake to choose that work. He clarifies that sleep is a natural physical requirement, but the ego often indulges in it because it lacks something more meaningful to pursue. He asserts that one must give themselves something high and attractive enough to naturally overcome the need for excessive sleep and hunger. Blaming physical needs like sleep is incorrect; rather, one must find a purpose that is significant enough to make these needs secondary. Regarding the difference between love and emotion, Acharya Prashant explains that love is not an emotion. Emotions are worldly, biological, and chemical reactions rooted in the physical self, whereas love is an attraction to that which is beyond the world. He describes love as being ruthless toward the 'soil' or the material self, focusing solely on the ultimate truth. While emotions involve attachment (attraction) or aversion (hatred) toward worldly objects and people, love is like looking at the sky, indifferent to the petty dualities of the world. He further explains that love and emotions are not the same; in fact, where there is worldly emotion, there cannot be true love. However, when true love is present, all emotions become servants to it. Instead of emotions leading the way, they follow love like compartments follow an engine. In this state, every action—whether it is eating, dressing, or traveling—is centered around the single goal of reaching the ultimate truth. One's definition of 'good' or 'bad' then depends entirely on whether something helps or hinders their journey toward that supreme goal.
