Description

Acharya Prashant explains that individuals often mistakenly believe they are separate from their ego, using phrases like "my ego." He clarifies that there is no owner of the ego; rather, the individual is the ego itself. The ego encompasses one's entire identity, and the world—including thoughts, memories, and sensory perceptions—acts as its shadow. He asserts that humans do not control the ego; instead, the very desire to control is an expression of the ego. To claim ownership over the ego is a misunderstanding, as the two are fundamentally one. He further describes the ego as a small piece of the sun that has gone astray. While the sun is a symbol of the infinite and possesses its own light without shadows, the ego is finite and dependent on external light. He concludes that the punishment for being small and separate is that even when one receives light, it inevitably results in the creation of a shadow.
