Acharya Prashant explains that one is only blessed with a guru or the right scripture when the truth itself chooses to shine upon them. He clarifies that the truth, which is formless, manifests as the bodily guru or the scripture to guide the individual. Left to its own devices, the ego would always choose against the guru because the guru’s role is to dissolve and purify the ego, which the ego perceives as an assault or a kind of murder. Therefore, the ego can never truly decide to go to the guru; rather, the right guru or scripture comes to a person through chance or what seems like an accident, as the ego is too deceptive and forgetful to make such a choice on its own.
