Description

Acharya Prashant addresses a seeker who feels a sense of emptiness and restlessness after experiencing spiritual growth and a reduction in worldly anxiety. He explains that when one is deluded, every trivial thing seems important and keeps the mind busy. However, as wisdom dawns and devotion melts the heart, the things that once seemed significant are recognized as worthless. This realization often leads to a void because the old attachments have fallen away, but the individual has not yet engaged in meaningful action. He emphasizes that as long as the body exists, it must perform actions; while ego-driven and useless tasks have been discarded, they must be replaced with purposeful and righteous work. Using the analogy of a sweet shop, Acharya Prashant explains that if one realizes all the sweets in the shop are useless but remains inside the shop while hungry, they will only suffer. The mistake lies in staying in the old environment and expecting to find fulfillment there. He asserts that internal spiritual transformation must be followed by external changes in one's environment, associations, and activities. One cannot maintain the same old friends and habits after awakening. He cites the example of Valmiki, who did not simply sit idle after giving up his life as a robber; instead, he channeled his energy into the monumental task of writing the Ramayana. Acharya Prashant concludes that one must actively seek a new, higher purpose in life and change their direction toward a true destination rather than stopping altogether.
