Description

Acharya Prashant explains that neither the past nor the future can impact one's fundamental freedom. Even if an individual has a past filled with the darkest deeds, the power and choice to understand the truth and live correctly remain available in the present moment. Freedom does not mean that the consequences of past actions will vanish; the wheel of karma is immutable and without exception. However, one possesses the strength to detach from both the doer of the past action and the enjoyer or sufferer of the current consequence. By realizing that the one who acted is the one who suffers, and that this 'doer' is not the true self, one becomes free from the fruits of past karma and the compulsion to repeat those patterns in the future. This state is defined as living in the present through spiritual power. While past actions may continue to affect the body, mind, or material circumstances, they do not affect the liberated self. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that while the fruits of karma cannot be canceled, one can attain freedom from the sense of being the 'doer'. It is impossible to remain the 'doer' while trying to escape the consequences; true liberation lies in relinquishing the identity of the 'doer', which naturally ends the state of being the 'sufferer'.
