Description

Acharya Prashant explains that when the fire of separation from the Divine arises within a devotee, it remains invisible to the outside world. Using the metaphor of fire in the ocean, he notes that such a fire produces no smoke or external symptoms. Just as a physician cannot diagnose a pain in the heart by checking the pulse, outsiders cannot comprehend the internal transformation of a seeker. People may notice a change in the person's eyes or life, but they will never understand the cause. This internal fire is unique because it is cooling, much like fire within water, and its nature can only be understood by the one experiencing it. He further elaborates that those moving toward the Supreme cannot provide reasons for their journey or their state. Attempting to explain this experience to others often leads to failure or appearing ridiculous. Kabir Saheb describes this state as being like a mute person eating jaggery; the person experiences the sweetness but lacks the means to express it. Whether the devotee feels the agony of separation or the joy of attainment, neither can be communicated through words. The more real and profound an experience is, the harder it becomes to describe or justify to the world. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that while material things are easily explained, the Truth and love are beyond expression. One cannot explain the essence of spiritual work or the feeling of love to someone who has not tasted it. The only way to help another understand is to bring them into the experience itself. Words only complicate and tangle the matter. Just as one cannot explain love to someone who has never known it, the spiritual experience can only be known through direct participation and not through verbal communication.
