Description

Acharya Prashant explains that individuality is not an optional requirement but an inherent state of being. He defines an individual as someone who is indivisible and resistant to external influences. Most people lack individuality because they are fragmented, acting differently in various environments like the home, classroom, or boardroom. This lack of individuality leads to a state of chaos where a person becomes a mixture of fifty different influencers, losing their own essence in the process. An individual, however, is an awakened person who does not allow external impressions to leave a mark on them. He further discusses the concept of importance, stating that for anything to be important, the self must first exist. The self is the ultimate judge of what is significant or insignificant; therefore, nothing can be more important than the self. Acharya Prashant encourages the listener to stop acting out roles, such as being shy or foolish, and to realize that these are merely acts rather than their true nature. He emphasizes that intelligence is always present, but it is often obscured by the belief in these self-imposed roles. Addressing the conflict between believing others and believing oneself, Acharya Prashant asserts that both are forms of delusion. Whether one considers another person as the ultimate authority or themselves as the ultimate authority, both fail to seek the truth. True individuality means understanding one's own will and thoughts just as clearly as one understands external influences. He concludes by defining intelligence as simple attention—being fully present and attentive to what one hears, reads, or thinks. This state of awareness allows one to know the truth without the need for external validation or arguments.
