Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the misconception that figures like Jiddu Krishnamurti and Kabir Saheb did not read scriptures. He clarifies that Jiddu Krishnamurti, being a recent figure, was not just taught but thoroughly drilled in the scriptures for 10 to 15 years. He asserts that Krishnamurti read more scriptures than even the greatest scholars. This education was provided by the Theosophical Society, which was preparing him to be a world teacher, not a scientist or an accountant. Therefore, the notion that Krishnamurti became enlightened without scriptural knowledge is dismissed as foolishness. Regarding Kabir Saheb, the speaker points to his relationship with his guru, Ramanand Maharaj. Kabir's intense eagerness for a guru led him to devise a plan to be accepted as a disciple. Once accepted, he would have undoubtedly received education. When Kabir speaks of concepts like 'Ingla, Pingla, Sushumna Nadi', Avadhuts, or the Vedas, he must have learned them from his guru. While a famous couplet states that Kabir never touched paper and ink, the same Kabir composed hundreds of couplets on the supreme importance of the Guru. This implies he received a great deal from his own guru, which would have included scriptural knowledge. Acharya Prashant contrasts these great figures with modern-day impostor gurus who, he claims, have genuinely not read any scriptures. He suggests that many popular contemporary gurus are profoundly unread. He argues that their ignorance is their strength, as someone who knows a little feels shame about how little they know. In contrast, one who knows nothing becomes completely shameless and unrestrained, making bold claims that the Vedas and Gita are useless.
