Description

Acharya Prashant advises to ask for something higher. He explains that the world provides small pleasures, which is why worldliness persists. If you ask for small things, the world will supply them; it is not a bad place. There are many kinds of pleasures in the world, and for those who ask for small things, the world is sufficient. To be a sage means to want something more than what the world can offer, to say, "I want more." If you don't ask for more, the world is fine, offering a decent wife, chubby kids, a 2-3 BHK apartment, and a vacation every few months. All this is available in the world, so why would one turn to spirituality? This is why the common person doesn't turn to spirituality, or if they do, it's for entertainment, like watching a YouTube video or doing a two-month yoga course. The world offers various colorful experiences, which are enough for 99% of people. If you find pleasure in the world, you should consider it an insult to yourself because the pleasure the world offers is small. It is a matter of shame that you can be bought by such a small pleasure. You should reproach yourself for being so small that you drool over a 20% discount. The question is not that the pleasure is small, but how small you are to be bought by it. If every small thing becomes big for you, how small must you be? Self-guilt and shame are necessary. A person should have a certain pride, a fire within. You can be humble, but when something tries to dominate or lure you, your pride should awaken. You should think, "Hey, little one, are you challenging me? How small did you think I was to be won over by this?" Before the ego is gone, it should be a strong, solid, ignited ego. Only after the ego becomes like this does it dissolve. The search for the Supreme Self (Paramatma) begins only when you consider the whole world to be small. If the world seems big to you, why would you search for the Supreme? Spirituality is the search for that which is bigger than the biggest. The spiritual mind is not an adjusted mind; it's a misfit, a mismatch. It's a kind of madness, an obsession. If you don't have that madness in life, you are a dead person. A well-organized, adjusted, balanced life—why is it even running? A life should be one that takes away your sleep. The speaker concludes by telling the questioner that his progress depends on his choices, time, and company. He advises him to stay on the path, and the weak flame will eventually become stronger.
