Description

Acharya Prashant clarifies that when sages like Maharshi Ramana or Kabir Saheb speak of 'Vichar' (contemplation), they are not referring to ordinary, distracted thinking but to a higher vision or self-observation. He explains that true 'Purushartha' (right effort) involves appropriate action that originates directly from the heart or the soul. Ideally, an impulse from the soul should pass through the intellect and manifest as action. However, for most people, this process gets stuck in the intellect, where excessive thinking replaces action. For action to be pure and intense, the mind must not interfere or create obstacles. The intellect's role is not to decide 'what' should be done—which is the domain of the soul—but to manage 'how' it should be done efficiently. When the intellect takes leadership, actions become distorted and frantic.
