Description

Acharya Prashant responds to a question about a couplet by Kabir Saheb: "Love clouds have gathered, it is raining down on me. My entire soul is soaked in it, all round there is greenery." He begins by stating that he cannot fully explain in two hours what Kabir Saheb has conveyed in just two lines, and advises the questioner to understand Kabir directly, as his words are lucid and self-explanatory. He explains that without love, there is merely dryness and logic. He likens the logical part of the human brain to a machine, but thankfully, only half of the brain works on logic. Man cannot live by logic or arguments alone; love is more fundamental. The speaker elaborates that the yearning of the mind for the Truth is called love. Even the resistance to this love, which comes from bodily tendencies (Prakriti), is a form of love. Love is a great pain, the realization of separation. He contrasts common love, which is directed towards one specific person or thing, with Kabir's love. In ordinary love, one might see one tree as green, but in Kabir's love, the entire jungle turns green. This means that when it rains on him, the entire world appears green. This happens because when you are in love, you cannot look at the world in the same way as before. Acharya Prashant explains that in love, you start seeing the deep, shared desire beneath all superficial desires. While superficially people's desires seem different, deep down, everyone shares one fundamental desire for satisfaction. When one is in love, the world is no longer full of strangers; you see that everyone is identical to yourself. This leads to the twin features of love: first, total dedication to the Beloved (Truth), and second, total identification with the world. Because the saint loves the Truth so much, they see that all beings also love the Truth, even if they are deluded. This is why a saint works tirelessly for the world, because they know, "You are me." Therefore, they cannot go to the Beloved alone; they must take everyone along.
