Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the issue of unrest and restlessness, explaining that unrest is essentially a manifestation of unused energy. He suggests that when an individual has spare time, space, and energy, these resources often turn against them, resulting in mental agitation. To resolve this, he advises devoting every bit of one's energy and time to something sublime and far bigger than oneself. This act of total dedication is what he defines as true surrender or devotion. He emphasizes that devotion is a more practical and self-explanatory term than simply 'letting go' or 'dropping,' as the latter can often be self-centered or feel like throwing away something valuable, which creates internal resistance. He further explains that India’s tradition of Bhakti, or devotion, is superior to the modern spiritual concept of 'dropping' because it involves giving one's resources to a deserving cause rather than just trying to discard them. Using the analogy of medicine, he notes that it is easier to donate valuable medicine to a hospital than to simply throw it out a window. Acharya Prashant asserts that restlessness cannot exist if one has no spare time or energy left. He encourages the questioner to get extremely busy with a noble mission or a great cause, stating that spirituality is not about a lazy body and a hyperactive mind, but about using one's intellect and body to serve a higher purpose. By making the best use of one's resources, suffering and restlessness naturally disappear.
