Description

Acharya Prashant observes that modern motivational speakers and spiritual teachers are often afraid to discuss death, choosing instead to focus on a superficial version of life. He points out that true spiritual masters, such as Kabir Saheb and the authors of the Guru Granth Sahib, spoke extensively about death and time. Kabir Saheb even dedicated an entire chapter to 'Kaal' (Time/Death) in the Sakhi Granth. He explains that the life people call 'joyful' is often just the physical movement of the body, which is inherently full of suffering. True joy belongs to the spiritual life that is neither born nor dies. A genuine teacher will repeatedly remind you of the futility of worldly life and draw your attention toward death, whereas false speakers avoid the topic because they are afraid. He further criticizes motivational speakers for inflating the listener's ego by telling them they can achieve anything without questioning what is actually worth doing. These speakers ignore the goal of life and the right action to be performed at every moment because they themselves lack the realization of what is truly valuable. They cater to the ego's desire for power and achievement, especially among the youth, by encouraging them to pursue worldly ambitions without considering the reality of mortality. Acharya Prashant concludes that while such speakers have the right to speak from their level of understanding, the listeners must exercise their choice and stop listening to such misleading guidance.
