Description

Acharya Prashant explains that life itself is the primary and ultimate teacher, far greater than any scripture like the Gita or Quran. He argues that one must first learn to observe and understand life before approaching the words of saints like Kabir Saheb. Since Kabir Saheb is no longer physically present, his words are static, whereas life is constantly moving and evolving. Scriptures serve as a validation and support for those who have already begun their journey of self-discovery; they provide strength by showing that others have walked the same path and faced similar doubts. However, for someone who is completely asleep to the realities of their own life, scriptures are of no use. He emphasizes that understanding scriptures requires a certain level of eligibility or readiness. If one cannot see the falseness in their own relationships or the 'hell' in their daily surroundings, they will fail to grasp the cryptic and deep meanings of spiritual texts. Scriptures are not path-finders but companions that ease the loneliness of the seeker. Acharya Prashant points out that even the Upanishads were born out of a specific chemistry between a teacher and a capable disciple. The quality of what a master speaks depends on the presence and receptivity of the student. Therefore, one must take responsibility for their own state of being rather than blaming scriptures or teachers, as a person will only extract from a text or a guru what their own level of consciousness allows.
