Description

Acharya Prashant explains that Guru Nanak Dev's instruction to meditate upon God is not merely an additional activity but a call for a fundamental transformation of one's being. He emphasizes that what a person remembers defines who they are; currently, mankind's remembrance is filled with division, violence, and fear because the center of the mind is unholy. Using the analogy of vultures hovering over rotting flesh, he explains that thoughts and memories circulate in the mind because of what lies at its center. To change one's actions or thoughts, one must address this fundamental center rather than complaining about external results or the world's reactions. He points out that saints like Guru Nanak Dev provide a simple yet profound solution: to remember God. This instruction is transformative because God cannot coexist with the ego, greed, or darkness. To remember God is to forsake the old self, as the 'I' is the very definition of rubbish in a spiritual sense. This process is difficult because the body and its deep-rooted conditioning, which are as old as time, rebel in favor of comfort, money, and pleasure. Ultimately, one must choose between the ancient instincts of the body and the timeless wisdom of the Guru that transcends time itself.
