Description

Acharya Prashant begins by drawing an analogy between uncivilized people who spit wherever they go and another type of uncivilized person who falls in love wherever they go. He suggests that there should be some rebellion and excitement in life, otherwise one will just keep watching the sensationalism created by the uncivilized anchors on TV. He humorously questions if one would like it if a stranger suddenly started calling them 'papa' (father). In a court, one is compelled to say 'Your Honor,' but one should not accept from the heart that the person sitting there is a very high being. For him, only his Ram is high. Quoting Sant Kabir, "Aatam tyagi anatam poojat, moorakh sheesh navay" (Forsaking the Self, they worship the non-self; the foolish bow their heads), Acharya Prashant explains that Sant Kabir was very cautious about the 'sheesh' (head), which symbolizes the ego. The ego gets nourishment by giving respect to the wrong things. He states that one's entire life is determined by who they consider their ideal or hero. One cannot give equal respect to a diamond and to garbage. If you give equal respect to both, then the diamond is not needed; garbage is enough. He emphasizes that higher things are not public or for everyone. Love and respect, in particular, should be exclusive and special, not for everyone. Love means to rise to a height, so how can one love everyone? Compassion, however, can be public. Love is not. Love must be exclusive and conditional. He explains that the relationship with the world should be one of observation and compassion. We are observers of the world, and when we see suffering, we should help. But love is not something to be given to anyone we see. Acharya Prashant points out that so many lives are ruined because people do not know the meaning of love and fall in love with just anyone. Similarly, lives are ruined because people bow their heads before anyone, thinking them to be great, and give them respect. He mentions that a spiritual person's behavior reflects that they do not wish ill upon anyone, nor do they want to be harsh towards anyone. However, they are not ready to be suppressed by anyone under any circumstances. They are always ready to give, but they will never be subdued by anyone. Love is a unique, special, and exclusive thing. It is not a light or sellable commodity that can be given away easily.
