Acharya Prashant explains that instead of searching for the qualities of a real guru, one must focus on the qualities of a real disciple. He states that there are no fixed benchmarks for a guru's conduct, as they may act differently depending on the situation. A real disciple is characterized by paying complete attention without passing judgment, accepting, or rejecting what is being said. When a disciple is truly awakened and sensitive, they will naturally find the right guru. He emphasizes that if the words of a speaker penetrate the heart despite one's indifference to acceptance or rejection, then that person is the right guide. Acharya Prashant further clarifies that listening is not about memorizing information; if one listens fully, the message does its work even if it is not consciously remembered. He advises that in the moment of listening, one should be so present that there is no space for the whirlwind of thinking, and if thoughts do arise, one should not fight them.
