Description

In response to a question about his success mantra, Acharya Prashant states that he is not sure if it is a success mantra, but it is a discipline he follows. This discipline is to follow his understanding and conviction, and to stick to what he has seen to be right. He acknowledges that at times his perception might be blurred, and he may not be able to differentiate between the real and unreal. However, he tries to minimize the gap between knowing and not doing. If he does not know something and fails to act, that is excusable, but if he knows and still does not act, he holds himself guilty. The goal is to minimize this guilt. Acharya Prashant explains that one can be excused for not knowing, as we are born with primordial ignorance. The fundamental problem is not ignorance but dishonesty, which destroys most people. Even if one is quite ignorant, they still know a lot about themselves, their life, relationships, and decisions. The issue is not a total lack of knowledge, but a lack of honesty with the knowledge one already possesses. He advises that what you have seen must not be unseen, what you have heard must not be unheard, and what you have known must not become unknown. The conviction of one moment should not be ignored in the next. He advises against being a "spiritual chameleon" who changes colors too often. There must be a sacred, unchanging spot within that serves as one's identity. While external aspects like the body, profession, and experiences will change, this sacred inner core must remain constant. The goal of life is to remain innocent before this sacred inner judge. Ultimately, what matters is how you are to yourself, as one lives within. All these things—love, honesty, innocence, commitment, integrity, and value—go together.
