Description

Acharya Prashant explains that when a devotee and the Divine reach a state of complete alignment and oneness, the devotee's vows and actions are essentially those of the Divine. Using the example of Arjun's vow to kill Jayadrath, he clarifies that Shri Krishna fulfills this vow because Arjun has surrendered himself so completely that his will is no longer separate from Shri Krishna's. This state of surrender means the devotee no longer needs to seek permission for their actions, as their individual ego has dissolved, leaving only the Divine as the true doer. He compares this relationship to a child with a father, where the child simply points to a desire, and the father takes on the responsibility of fulfilling it. He further discusses the psychological depth of human resistance to truth. He notes that while people rarely admit to opposing the truth, they often disguise their falsehood as truth to maintain their ego. Acharya Prashant suggests that open, honest opposition to the truth is actually more transformative than hypocritical devotion. By bringing one's inner bitterness and hatred into the open, one can be purified, as the act of exposing one's true, 'ugly' face acts as a remedy. He concludes by reflecting on the nature of Arjun's persistent questioning in the Bhagavad Gita, suggesting that despite Arjun's stubbornness, Shri Krishna ultimately takes responsibility for his devotees because, in a non-dual reality, there is no one else to blame or rely upon.
